Sentry Integration

Connect Sentry to bring your Sentry usage volumes into Cloud ex Machina.

The Sentry API gives usage volumes, for example accepted and dropped events. It gives no spend and no invoices.

Prerequisites

  • Cloud ex Machina Admin access.
  • A member of the Sentry organization who can see its usage stats. A Manager or Owner sees the stats of the full organization.

Step 1: Find your Sentry region

  1. Open your organization settings in Sentry.
  2. Find the data storage location of the organization.
Data storage locationHostname to select
United Statesus.sentry.io
European Unionde.sentry.io

If you are not sure, select sentry.io.

Step 2: Create a personal token

Token type

Use a personal token. It starts with sntryu_. An organization token starts with sntrys_. It does not work for this connection.

  1. In Sentry, open the account menu at the top left.
  2. Click User settings > Personal Tokens.
  3. Click Create New Token and name it Cloud ex Machina.
  4. Give the token the scopes org:read, project:read, team:read, member:read and alerts:read. Do not give it other scopes.
  5. Copy the token.

The token stops working if its owner leaves the Sentry organization.

Spike protection

Sentry lets the project:read scope turn spike protection on and off. Sentry has no narrower scope for project settings.

Step 3: Add the connection in Cloud ex Machina

  1. In the sidebar, click Integrations.
  2. Find Sentry and click Sign in. If the integration already has a connection, the button is Add connection.
  3. Fill in:
    • Hostname: the hostname from Step 1.
    • Auth Token: the token from Step 2.
  4. Submit the form. Cloud ex Machina saves the connection.

Remove a connection

  1. Click the connection row under the Sentry card.
  2. Click Disconnect.
  3. Delete the token in Sentry.
